Dear Debbie Harry,
Each year you are growing braver, bolder and bigger!
You continue to be working and show me the person you really are, as a solo singer, songwriter, model, actress, frontman and most of all as an influencer for 3 generations of musicians and music lovers.
To write a story for your 77th birthday, was the most challenging and confronting time for me!
When I dived into your life, I discovered many similarities between you and a younger woman called Denise, I wrote a story about her before. You know, her zodiac sign is Cancer as well.
Debby, the way you said, I am the frontman of Blondie and the band members are just doing their job, did I realize, I left Denise less space to feel comfortable. I am glad Denise showed me her strong personal brand and made her own cover story!
Debbie, you showed your leadership and claimed your spot on- and off-stage.
Come to mind the rare illness of Chris Stein and your true love for him in good and bad times. You never let him aside.
Both could find a way to respect, give space and keep your friendship and professional relation alive.
You accept his new life of him with his wife and children.
I understand, that you are a terrific godmother and visit them regularly with your Japanese Chins.
You are open about how you are staying young, about relationships and masculine/feminine roles.
Sometimes you wore a man’s suit and tie. Did you feel like a man trapped in a woman’s body?
You think like a man and have a determined attitude like a man.
I personally think women can be Uber feminine but still take on things in a masculine way, it’s feminine/masculine energy, just energy that’s necessary to connect for living together!
You even changed a girl’s name into a boy’s name and this song became a number one hit, worldwide.
Red, Yellow and Blue are the colors you are wearing for more than fifty years.
Black and white dresses for in-between suit you too.
Your audiences love you for a certain thing that is very personal for them, they treasure that, and they want to hear that from you. Often, that’s all they want to hear.
Maybe their lives have moved in a different direction than yours, and it just doesn’t match the way they once did.
Can that make you as an artist very stagnant?
Record companies, want you to reproduce the same old thing. That’s not what art is about. Art is about growth, experience, transition and becoming bigger. It’s an enabling experience. It shouldn’t just go in a very straight and narrow line.
The wavelengths should get bigger, bolder …
Life is a Challenge, let’s dance with Passion, Play with Pleasure and give Purpose to your Trip wherever you go!
I am overwhelmed with tons of good material. I decided to pick some highlights that touched my heart.
I am looking forward to writing again some articles and maybe in a way it can be published as a book.
